My review of OldeWatches.com found a great looking site with some truly atrocious Panerai replica watches. Things went from bad to worse when their poor job packing the watch lead to it being badly damaged by the time it arrived. Maybe a good replica could have taken some bumps and been fine, but this cheap knockoff just fell apart. I got my refund just in time – this site isn't around any more, and that's just fine by me.
Quality: Are These Watches Any Good?
Paying $200 for the Panerai replica they sent me turned out to be absurd – it wasn't worth $20! As I was saying, there was hardly any padding in the box, and since this watch wasn't built to last it literally arrived in pieces. The pins that hold the linked band in place had come out and were loose in the box when I opened it. The so called 'gold' plating was a total joke, and wouldn't fool anyone. This was the kind of knockoff you can buy on the streets of Hong Kong for a few bucks.
The Site: Usability and Design
The site looked great – it featured a bright color scheme that was very easy on the eye. It was also well laid out and simple to use. Of course part of the reason it looked so great is that it took all its photos from authentic sites, but at this point I've almost come to expect that. Only perfectwatches.to and a few others actually use their own photos these days.
Service: Is Their Staff Any Good?
I was glad to see that OldeWatches.com offered telephone support, that is until I tried the number a few times. It just rings and goes to a machine time after time, and no one calls you back after you've left a message.
Shipping: Is It Fast and Reliable?
By USPS it took a little over two weeks, which isn't unreasonable but not great either. What was unreasonable was the way the watch was packaged – not nearly enough padding is likely what was responsible for the significant damages on my Panerai replica, which I'll get into in just a moment.
Return Policy: Is It Reasonable?
They tried to charge me a restocking fee of 20%, but I sent them photos and said I would dispute the charges through my bank. They relented, although I still had to pay a lot to send the watch all the way back to China.
The Bottom Line
No sooner had I finished my review of OldeWatches.com than these guys disappeared. It's no wonder – I don't know how they ever made a nickel selling such crummy Panerai replica watches.
